Agriculture and fishery stakeholders were urged to submit proposals for the Philippines’ Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) on the Paris Agreement on Climate Change which will be submitted by 2020.
This is the main agenda of the 31st Quarterly Meeting of the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) on June 29, 2018 in Quezon City.
Photo shows CCC Chairperson Atty. Christian Monsod appeals to the members of the committee to come up soon with policy positions that include detailed recommendations on the NDC’s adaptation and mitigation options. PCAF will consolidate all the recommendations which will be endorsed to the DA through the Systems-Wide Climate Change Office for official submission to the Climate Change Commission that could be part of the country’s conclusive NDC.
The NDC refers to the binding actions or contributions that each individual country should make in order to achieve the worldwide goal that are determined by all countries in the Paris Agreement. It aims to intensify the global response to the threat of climate change by keeping a global temperature rise below a certain degree and strengthen the ability of the countries, like the Philippines, to deal with the impacts of climate change. – JC
