In line with promoting the produce of local farmers and fisherfolk in enhancing their respective business endeavors, the Department of Agriculture thru the Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Service (DA-AMAS) launched the KADIWA ni Ani at Kita at the Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI) Complex in Taguig City on September 13, 2019.
Spearheading the event is Agriculture Secretary William Dar, alongside officials and staff from various DA Attached Agencies, Bureaus and Corporations. Also in attendance are representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Food Terminal Incorporated (FTI), and the Local Government Unit of Taguig City.
In his speech, Secretary Dar emphasized the importance of KADIWA’s rebirth, as it anchors on the twin objectives of bountiful harvest and higher income for the Philippine agri-fishery sector.
He also added that thru this concept, it will enable provincial governments and their farmer-producers to have a proper venue for their respective agribusiness ventures, as well as for the consumers in the urban areas to have access to these produce and merchandises coming from the countryside.
“Iyong mga produce nila (PLGUs) ay ikokonek natin sa mga KADIWA ni Ani at Kita. Hind lang bigas pero kasama rin ang mga prutas, vegetables, at iba pang mga produkto kasama na ang mga value-added products. Lahat na galing agrikultura, agribusiness, value-adding products, ikokonek natin sa mga KADIWA centers all over Metro Manila initially, seeing to it that the general public will have affordable, safe and nutritious food,” said Secretary Dar.
“Kung magawa natin mamaintain natin ito (KADIWA) year in and year out ay magiging maganda ang takbo ng pag-angat ng ating sektor ng agrikultura at pagnenegosyo, at aangat na rin ang ating bansa. Kasi 60-70% ng tao sa kanayunan ay directly or indirectly involved in agriculture and agribusiness,” added the Agriculture chief.
A marketing program, KADIWA seeks to increase farmers and fisherfolks’ income and make them key economic contributors through establishing effective market linkages among key stakeholders of the country’s agri-fishery industry. -AE
