More than 60 hog and swine raisers, concerned private stakeholders, government officials and selected PCAF employees participated in a video conference on April 30, 2020 to discuss and get updates on the African Swine Fever (ASF) situation in the country.

The Department of Agriculture-Bureau of Animal Industry presented the Department’s initiatives on ASF. These include the number of barangays affected, status of implementation of ASF zoning, and availability of ASF test kits.

Other issues and concerns discussed were the need to expedite the operation of the AAA slaughterhouse facility in Batangas, and the limited cold storage facilities to accommodate pork coming from Mindanao that will be used to augment pork supply in Luzon.
