In celebration of the National Volunteers’ Month this December, the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) will conduct the 8th National Agriculture and Fisheries Volunteers’ Day (NVD) on December 13, 2022.
The annual event aims to highlight and acknowledge the valuable contributions of PCAF’s private sector-partners toward the development of Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries.
These volunteer-partners are collectively called Agricultural and Fishery Councils (AFCs). At the national level, they are called National Banner and Other Priority Program Committees (NBPC/OPPCs), while at the local level, the Councils are divided into regional, provincial and city/municipal councils.
The first NVD was conducted on March 9, 2016, 29 years after the AFC was first established. The awarding of the exceptional AFC Chairpersons and Coordinators served as the event’s highlight.
For the 8th NVD, PCAF is coming up with a new set of special awards in recognition of the unique and priceless efforts of its volunteer-partners.
Vying for the national prestigious awards will be the 16 Regional AFCs and the 12 NBPC/OPPCs.
This year’s theme is “Volunteers: Spark hope, create solutions, and respond to challenges”, which will also be the focus of the exhibit to be installed in the venue.
Department of Agriculture Officials, to be led by Senior Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban, will also be gracing the event. | JCL
