A day after the awarding of certificate and trophy to the winners of the 2017 Gawad Saka in Malacañang, winners under the category of Outstanding Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) and Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council (PAFC) accepted PhP300 thousand worth of project grants and PhP50 thousand cash awards from the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) on April 6, 2018. For the project grants, MAFC Canaman in Camarines Sur, headed by Chairperson Hubert Macario Baynas will use the fund for farm inputs needed by their local farmers such as fertilizers, insecticides, and seeds through a credit scheme with a low interest rate. On the other hand, PAFC Misamis Oriental headed by Chairperson Mario Jamis will use the fund for a native chicken or free range chicken livelihood program to supply the growing demands of hotels in their province.
