DA USec. for Operations Ariel Cayanan raises some points during the presentation of guidelines of the National Banner Program Committees to DA Banner Program Directors and Focal Persons

The Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) convened DA’s Banner Program directors today to harmonize the membership of the National Banner Program Committees (NBPC).

Along with the Banner Program focal persons, the consultation aims to discuss and firm up membership of the Banner Program Committees, arrangements in the conduct of consultations, and other activities.

The NBPC will serve as the consultative mechanism for policy development, review of program implementation, and monitoring and feedback of the DA Banner Programs to ensure that stakeholders’ participation is institutionalized and is aligned with the DA strategic thrusts and priorities.

As presented by PCAF, the NBPC will also serve as a venue for the immediate and continuing discussions of commodity, industry, and emerging issues and concerns affecting various sectors.

At present, there are seven committees of the NBPC, these are the Committee on Rice; Poultry, Livestock and Corn; High Value Crops; Fisheries and Aquaculture; Agriculture and Fisheries Mechanization; International Trade and Export; and Agricultural and Fishery Youthpreneur Council.

The conduct of the stakeholder consultation will still be spearheaded by PCAF in close coordination with DA’s Banner Programs and other concerned offices.

PCAF and the Banner Programs is set to finalize the schedule of consultations for the second semester of 2020 and the NBPC composition. ### JC
