The Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) employees formally bid farewell to Executive Director Nestor Domenden in a simple retirement celebration on July 25, 2023 in Quezon City.
For 42 years, Dir. Domenden served the government, particularly at the regional and national office of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) and the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office (DA-RFO) 1 before assuming his post in PCAF on September 15, 2022.
“Napagaan ng pagpasok ko dito sa PCAF and I was fortunate to have people who are smart and willing to serve not just for the office but for the people in the office. I am bowing from public service knowing that there will be no major changes in PCAF because the agency is in good hands,” said outgoing PCAF Dir. Domenden.
He also expressed his appreciation to former Deputy Executive Director Julieta Opulencia for her support during his short stint in PCAF. He also conveyed his approval and commendation to the latter as she takes the new position as Officer-in-Charge Executive Director.
DA already released Special Order number 889, Series of 2023 on July 25 designating Dir. Opulencia as OIC Executive Director.The 64-year old Chief also thanked the Regional and Agricultural Fishery Council and the National Sectoral Committee chairpersons, as well as BFAR National Director Demosthenes Escoto, BFAR regional directors, and former colleagues and staff who sent their video messages. Aside from them, his family, former colleagues from BFAR and DA RFO 1 joined the PCAF employees in the Apacible Conference Room in a blended retirement activity prepared for him. | JC
