In an inter-agency meeting among the Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), and Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB) held on February 28, 2017 at Apacible Hall in Quezon City, solutions to the citizen’s petition to stop the operation of poultry farms encroaching residential areas, were explored. Through the PCAF National Sectoral Committee – Committee on Poultry, Livestock and Feed Crops (NSC-CPLFC), the meeting was called to resolve the complaints of residents living near broiler farms to stop their operations due to swarms of flies and foul odor. To address the issue that hampers the development of the sector, CPLFC passed a resolution recommending the DA to urge the DILG to impose a three-year moratorium on the closure of broiler farms in the country.
